The Cake.
I posted this on twitter last night and got some comments/questions from people about it. So, I figured might as well go ahead and post it here too.
First off… The infamous “People Fail” Twitter Cake-
Yeah yeah, I know. My cake making skills are pretty much non existant. Don’t laugh at me!
As it turns out, while the other females in my family were busy learning helpful useful domestic-type things I was nowhere to be found. I was generally lost in a field somewhere… bringing home stray animals, rescuing frogs from the road, riding horses, playing in the mud.. that sort of thing!— “Maeghan, stir this”— That was the extent of my cooking involvement… BUT, the cake tastes good. (special thanks to my cousin, @jamieleigh24, for helping me make it… I am a failure at domesticity..)
Back to the point of this… This week seems to have been really rough for a lot of folks… Apparently a bunch of us missed some sort of memo stating that this week it was somehow okay to be a jerk to others. I dunno, I think I need a secretary. I seem to miss many memos….. But, I digress, 1 of those people who also missed the memo just so happens to be my best friend.
I dont do so well with emotions. I am not the crying type… Sure, I have emotions… I’m not a sociopath (I dont think) I just tend to handle things differently than others. So, when people I care about are really upset I tend to not know what to do.
So, what does a super awkward person with very little internal filter do when she feels helpless? Thats right. She comes up with random crap to make people laugh. Thus, the cake.
This wasnt directed at anyone in particular. It is what it is… “People Fail. F*** it! Lets eat cake!” Because at the end of the day, we cant control what the people around us do. The person you thought would always be there? They leave. The person you thought you knew? They have secrets. The person with that awesome hair? They are wearing a wig. (Though I think you would probably have some sort of idea on that last one…)
So I say embrace it! Sure, this week sucked… But at least we have some awesome cake to eat now!

I really love this song for 2 reasons…
#1-The video reminds me of so many people I know here in OKC. Including a few that are no longer with us.
#2-It is hopeful…. and lets face it, we all need that sometimes.
New Day, New Platform
Here we go again…
Seeing as I have the attention span of a chipmunk on LSD sometimes, I needed a new platform that was easier for me to just jump on, say what I needed to say, and go. My life is powered by coffee and a prayer, and for those of you who know me well.. You know this is true.
Sadly, my old blog was neglected… Then when I decided what I wanted to do with it there were certain things standing in my way. Good news though, those things are gone now. Yipee!
The past few weeks have been odd… and not so awesome, honestly. But truth be told, it was time for a change. Actually past time for a change… about 5 years past time for a change. So lets do this, shall we?
Sometimes you just need to start over and I don’t see a better time to do that than right now.
