Post with 1 note

New places and snow storms.

For the love of god… Could someone please tell me when Oklahoma decided to start taking winter seriously? I mean really… I dont remember ever having a real snow storm as a kid, yet here we have had 2 major ones in the course of what, 10 days? yup. Suck.

Actually, I normally like snow… just not huge amounts that lock me in my house for days.

Speaking of houses… I gots myself a new one!

Bad phone pic, but you get the idea. I am in Blanchard now. Finally got all my stuff moved in, and there is only a small pile of boxes and moving crap left to unload. woot! I was supposed to move on the 1st. However, the major snowstorm decided to hit that day so I ended up moving 2 days earlier. It was one of the better choices I have made seeing as I ended up totally stuck in my house for 4 days. Not only was I stuck but I had lost my phone charger, had no tv reception, and no internet… Yeah, it was good time. Thankfully, I was rescued when my good friend brought by a charger and a little 3g mobile hot spot so I could get online… Yay! (What?? I am a slave to technology sometimes, shoot me!)

All my internet stuff will be set up on monday, this makes me very happy.

Blanchard is a funny little town. Quiet… not a whole lot out here. But I am liking it so far! With the exception of a really bad day that I had on monday night/ Tuesday… I got to meet some awesome Blanchard city employees… Yeah, thats all I am going to say about that. Oh, and without the amazing friends in my life, I would die. Vague? yes. But if you know what I am talking about then you know what I mean… if you dont, well… Enjoy your life in the dark. ;-)

Ok, I’m rambling… I just feel that I have been neglecting my blog lately. There will be more to come soon… Until then, Here are some pics for your enjoyment.

Out one of the windows at Abby and Garrett’s house… It is really pretty out there and the snow made it all magical looking.

One of my dogs, Beau… He hates the snow. With a passion… So when he comes back inside I have to wrap him up in a blanket till he warms back up. He is so cute when he cuddles…. Dont let the sweet innocent puppy pic fool you though… he can be a monster. ;-)

That is all for now… More later… Got to go finish building my mailbox.

Post

Not a goodbye.

Lets be honest here, I have been putting off actually posting about this because it makes me sad… But, here we go.

Most everyone knows I have been working for the Oklahoma City Coworking Collaborative for the past almost 2 years. A long time! In those 2 years all the people here have ended up meaning SO much to me. Especially the best 3 bosses ever… Derrick, Tommy, and Chad. They have become a crazy dysfunctional family to me… and I honestly don’t know where I would be had they not come into my life. I have been here since the very beginning and it is for this reason that making this decision was so hard for me…. Sadly, this is my last week of working for the okcCoCo.  (wow, that sounded so formal didn’t it? creepy…)

While I am going to miss being here every morning and for every event, they wont be getting rid of me for good… at least if I have any say about it. ;-) I will still be coming up here to co-work whenever I can and hope to still be able to help out with events if I am needed. (lets face it, running around like a maniac during events has become seriously one of my favorite hobbies…)

Why am I leaving you ask? I have been given a really amazing opportunity. I don’t have time to go into it just now but I have the chance to really pursue something I have been wanting to do for a long time. I’m going to be designing my butt off over this next year. Hopefully I will have something to show you all here very soon. :-) It was a hard decision to make, but I think it will work out great.

So there you have it… I love the okcCoCo and all the founders, members, people involved behind the scenes, furniture, windows, floors… you name it. I will miss being here all the time more than you know. But, trust me.. I will still be around. Also, we are having a little going away lunch on Thursday at 12pm. at Mcnellies. RSVP here- www.okccoco.com

I’m not going to cry. For real. I wont…. *sniffle*

My 2011 wish.

Perhaps it is the fact that the birds are falling from the sky? Or, maybe it is the fish that are spontaneously freezing to death in the rivers?… but something tells me that 2011 is going to be interesting.

“It’s when you know you’re licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what.  You rarely win, but sometimes you do.”

~Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird

2010 was rough sometimes, but I hope that those things are behind us. No, wait. Screw that. They are. That’s the beauty of life, right? It just keeps going.

So that is my wish for you… (yes you, the perhaps 4 people who ever really read this). My wish is that you remember to keep going even when you are sure you are going to fail before you begin. That when hard times come, you remember that every once in a while, you really will end up winning…. (Hopefully…. I mean, the world has to have SOME justice, right?)

When life hands you lemons- Get creative, make some grape juice out of that shit, and Blow. Their. Minds.

I send you all love, hope, peace, and a renewed sense of humor in this new year. :-)

-Maeghan

Ps- everyone hug a Red-Wing Blackbird if you see them… those little dudes seem to be having a spectacularly rough time of things right now!

If the moon smiled,

You leave the same impression

I’m nobody, who are you? Are you nobody too? Then there’s pair of us. Don’t tell! They’d banish us you know. How public to be somebody.. How boring like a frog. To tell your story the livelong day to an admiring bog.

SLC Tuesday

Truth is, I have no idea why I love the movie SLC Punk so much… But, I do. I woke up this morning with lines from the movie stuck in my head. Seriously, the lines were looping in my brain like one of those songs that you suddenly realize you have been humming for 3 solid days, and once you realize it you would do pretty much anything short of a lobotomy to make it go away…. (Holy Run-On Sentence Batman!)

However, I don’t want to make it go away. I love Steve-O and his little nuggets of wisdom he provides throughout this trippy few hours of chaos.

THUS, I give you…. SLC Tuesday. Yes, It is a holiday!  (really it might just be a few posts with some of my favorite images and quotes from the movie… I’m just kinda winging it here.. you cant tell me what to do!…. ANARCHY!)

My Favorite New Blog

I would like to take a moment to introduce everyone to my new favorite site ever. Sure, everyone knows that I am about 1 puppy away from going off the deep end and being the star of the next episode of “Animal Hoarders-Oklahoma”… But for real, this is the cutest thing I have ever seen.

                                        http://www.zooborns.com/

Just go there. Not only will you die from the cute creatures, but it is very informative as well. Lots of good info on conservation and stuff.

Now for the top 3 reasons you should check out this blog.

#3

(Yes, that is a baby hippo!)

Picking 3 photos from the site was far more difficult than I ever imagined it would be. ha.

(And for the record, I am not a hoarder. I simply have many pets… And really its not that many… just 3 dogs, 1 cat, and 1 horse. SO not as bad as it could be… and I don’t have any kids, so that makes it better… I really just have a lot of love to give… don’t judge me.)

Now if you will excuse me, I have to go see a man about a panda.

Things…

… and stuff, and people, and places and things.(What was that? I have no idea… just went with it- don’t question my brilliance.) In other news, I’m about 100% sure that I’ve lost my mind. But anyway, moving on.

There are a few things that I REALLY would love to have, or have happen right now.

#1-A new place to live.

The house I am currently renting is pretty much falling down around me, I have the worlds worst neighbor, and I’m not a huge fan of the individual I call my landlord. Its like the renting hell trifecta!

I don’t need anything too fancy, just a cheap, cool little place for me and my pets to live. I would really like to live somewhere historic. I am head over heels in love with old historic homes. I want to decorate it and make a lovely little place of my own. However, that might never happen. Hi, my name is Maeghan, and I am broke.

#2-For the project I have been working on to succeed.

More details on this later when I am able to discuss it more. Just really hope that things continue to work out.

#3-For things to continue looking up.

After a bit of a rough time, I feel like I might be seeing the “light at the end of the tunnel” (wow, that was actually as lame as I thought it would be) Sure, that light might be a train… But I’m going to just keep on going till it hits me.

Dude, that would be a pretty rock star way to die. “Head on collision with locomotive- Tonight on the 10:00 news!”

*Choo Choo!*
